Making DIY robot car with RC receiver and transmitter YK04

In this tutorial, we will learn about YK04 receiver and its transmitter. We will also create a robotic car with 2 wheels to understand how RC receiver works.

Detailed video below

Parts Needed

1. RC transmitter and receiver pair
2. Jumper cables
3. L298N motor driver
4. BO motors with wheels
5. Mounting brackets, chassis and screws

Circuit

Wire connections

RC receiver           L298N
     5V                        5V
    Gnd                     Gnd
     D0                        IN1
     D1                        IN2
     D2                        IN3
     D3                        IN4

Connect 12V power supply to 12v +pin and Gnd to Gnd.
Connect BO motor terminals to output terminals.

Assembly

Lets start with BO motor mounting.

Post brackets are fixed

Post this lets mount this on to chassis.

Troubleshooting

1. Please verify channel associated with your receiver an change connections to L298N inputs.
2. Check motor terminals connected to L289N they may require changes.
3. Antenna is broken on reciever.
4. Open transmitter antenna if range is not sufficient
5. Consider adding powerful antenna using copper wire coiled to increase range.
6. Stability issues with chassis. Considering mounting tight and replace wheels which are wobbling.
